The closest substitute, cheaper
Also an AI-native ledger and an explicit QuickBooks replacement, at $25–$300/month against Digits’ $65–$250. Stronger on documented accounting depth — accrual, revenue recognition, subledgers — but meters AI work in credits, which Digits does not.
If you want to spend nothing to start
A genuinely free tier up to 250 transactions a year, $40/month unlimited above that, with MCP and CLI access from the paid tier. Multi-entity and accrual arrive at $100/month, which is where Digits Core sits.
If you want the automation without the migration
Runs inside your existing QuickBooks Online or Xero file at $129/month. You keep your ledger, your accountant and your history, and you can uninstall it. The trade is a narrower product: categorization and document matching only.
If the AI you already pay for might be enough
Intuit Intelligence is bundled into every QuickBooks plan — categorization, AI chat, and from Plus upward reconciliation, anomaly detection and sales-tax AI. Establish it is genuinely insufficient before paying to leave.
