Zeni pairs automation with a dedicated team (controller, bookkeeping manager and bookkeeping analyst) and layers on business banking, bill pay and reimbursements. It does not replace your ledger: customers are required to run QuickBooks Online Plus, which Zeni syncs to its dashboard. Fractional CFO, tax and payroll are separately priced services on top. Pricing sits at the upper end of the market and is aimed at funded companies rather than owner-operated small businesses.
Who it is for
Choose Zeni if: A funded startup that needs investor-grade accrual books, a controller in the loop, and does not want to hire finance staff yet.
Look elsewhere if: The most expensive entry point of any service reviewed here — $494/mo before tax, CFO or payroll, or if any of the limitations below are load-bearing for your business.

The headline monthly fee is rarely the whole bill. These are the extras Zeni publishes.

|---|---|---|---|
| Fractional CFO | $1,599 | per month | $1,599 to $4,990+ per month, plus setup fees |

This is the first thing to check. A product that replaces your ledger is a migration; one that sits on top of it is reversible.

Strengths
- Named, dedicated finance roles rather than a shared inbox — the team structure is published, not implied
- Bill pay and reimbursements are included rather than billed as add-ons
- Keeps your books in QuickBooks Online, so leaving Zeni does not mean migrating your ledger
- One vendor covers bookkeeping, banking, spend and (as add-ons) tax and CFO
Limitations
- The most expensive entry point of any service reviewed here — $494/mo before tax, CFO or payroll
- Requires QuickBooks Online Plus, an additional $140/mo list cost you pay separately
- Tax and CFO are priced separately and steeply; the all-in number is much higher than the headline
- Built around the venture-backed startup profile; a $600K-revenue services business is paying for machinery it will not use
